The design readily calls to mind Footprints, a story that tells of a man standing at God's side and looking back on his life's journey. He sees the scenes of his life and beside them footprints - a pair belonging to the man and a pair belonging to God. The man sees only one pair of footprints during the most difficult times of his life. Upset, the man questions God, "I was told that if I followed You, You would be with me always, but when I look back I see only one set of footprints during my greatest struggles. How could You abandon me?" At this God smiles and explains that there is only one set of footprints during those times because "it was then that I carried you."
