They are said to have powers, which can bring clouds, rain and lightning. In Japan, legend has it that dragons have helped farmers in need by bringing rain during droughts. Some dragons supposedly have hidden pots of gold and share their wealth with the needy. The year 2000 is the Year of the Dragon.
