Our Lady of Guadalupe

Individually Numbered Limited Edition!

In Mexico, before the Christmas season begins officially on December 16th, the day when the first Posada takes place, Mexicans join together on December 12th for the festivities of Our Lady of Guadalupe. On this most important date in the Mexican calendar, thousands of the faithful from around the country make the most important pilgrimage of the year to the Basilica of Guadalupe. There the miraculous image of la Virgen Moreno, Our Lady of Guadalupe is kept. In the spirit of an authentic Fiesta, dancers and singers entertain, artisans sell their wares, Mexican food is served, but most importantly the pilgrims wish that Our Lady enjoys Her day!

The story is that on a Saturday before dawn in 1531, a fifty-five year old man, Juan Diego, was getting ready to go to church and do some errands. Juan came to a hill and heard beautiful birds singing. Next, he heard a voice from the mount calling his name. He saw a beautiful lady, and she revealed to him that she was Holy Mary, Mother of God. This was just the beginning of a series of apparitions of the Blessed Virgin revealed to Juan Diego. Eventually, he was ordered to ask the Mother of God for a sign so that all would see that the apparitions were genuine.

A great miracle occurred. The Blessed Virgin put a beautiful image of Herself on Juan Diego's tilma, a very thin cloth mantle that usually deteriorates very fast. His tilma is still miraculously intact; the same as it was when Juan Diego wore it. The tilma bearing the picture of the ever-virgin Holy Mary, Mother of God can still be seen today in the Our Lady of Guadalupe Basilica, Mexico City.
