It was not until the present century that the Christmas tree has become a part of every Swedish household. Most Swedes begin decorating their tree two weeks before Christmas, adorning it with sparkling objects, gaily wrapped candies, glass bulbs and much more. The tree is kept watered and many families keep their tree until the very end of the holiday season, which falls on the twentieth day after Christmas, "Knuts Day" in the Swedish calendar.
