Alexandra performs a Christmas task that is so popular with not only Dutch children all over the world – that of reading Christmas stories. In this case, Alexandra reads a book about Sinter Klaas, the Dutch Santa who visits children in Holland on the much-anticipated St. Nicholas Day, December 6th. When the Dutch emigrated to the New World and settled in New Amsterdam, now called Manhattan, they brought their love of stories and Sinter Klaas with them. Eventually, due to mispronunciation, "Sinter Klaas" became "Santa Claus" and an American tradition was born.
