Gay Head Light, Martha's Vineyard, MA 1856
Item #13528 In the midst of brightly colored clay bluffs on the Western side of Martha's Vineyard is the Gay Head Lighthouse. Sitting 160 feet above sea level, once boasting a First Order Fresnel lens, the lighthouse protected seafarers from the Devils Bridge Rocks. Today the lighthouse is fully automated and the Wampanoag Tribe, who are very protective of its fragile cliffs, owns the land surrounding the lighthouse. This is a Special Event piece for Year 2000.
