Sankaty - Massachusetts
Item #250 The sturdy Sankaty lighthouse opened in 1850 and has required only minimal repairs during its years of service. The tower held a 2nd order Fresnel lens which flashed every one-and-a-half and three minutes from a height of 158 feet. The distinctive beacon so impressed local sailors that Sankaty was often called the "Rocket Light" or "Blazing Star". The Sankaty Head Light was decommissioned the by the Coast Guard in 1994. Production is limited to 6,500 pieces.
