Sister Island, New York
Item #HL252 Treacherous outcroppings and shifting shoals along the meandering St. Lawrence river created the need for a lighthouse. In 1870 a lighthouse was erected on the remote, isolated outcroping known as "Sister" or "Sister's Island." An automated buoy replaced the need for the lighthouse in the 1950s and today, the lighthouse, though not operational, is home to a family who purchased it in 1967 and lovingly restored it. A timed limited edition.
