Artist Kate Royal first came up with a name she loved - "Watermelon Helen". She just couldn't get that name out of her head. From there the design for this whimsical cow developed and continue to grow as she created this fruitful masterpiece, which included the creation of the Crazy Cow Cousins. The artist was so focused on the details of this design, she brought a watermelon to Home Depot, where they mixed and matched paints until they got the colors exactly right.
