Item # 126553 In 1886 Vincent van Gogh (b. 1853) studied at the Atelier Cormon in Paris. Through his brother Theo, who ran a little Gallery at the time, he became familiar with the Impressionists Claude Monet, Auguste Renoir, Alfred Sisley, Camille Pissarro, Edgar Degas, Paul Signac and Georges Seurat. Under their influence Vincent's still lifes and flower paintings showed a remarkable brighter and more lively coloring. The painter's life was plagued by affairs, failed relationships and psychological crises, and ended when he took his own life in July of 1890.Van Gogh never sold a painting in his lifetime.
